Digital camera technology was first attempted in experiments during the 1960s and 1970s. True digital technology and general acceptance of personal cameras became widespread during the 1990s. Today digital cameras are sold as discrete units and also as accessories for other devices, such as mobile telephones. Today, digital camera technology has all but replaced the formerly popular film technology. As more and more of these devices were manufactured, their prices, initially exorbitant, have dropped. Since today nearly every other manufactured item is often made in miniature and attached to a key ring, this digital camera with key ring attached is no surprise.
