As a consultant, MacGill worked for a variety of airplane manufacturers, as well as for the Canadian government, ushering in a new era of civil aviation. She was part of the team who converted the military transport aircraft the Douglas DC-4 into a civilian aircraft for Trans-Canada Airlines—the Canadair North Star.
