Cannonball Tree or Bowling Ball Tree

This slide image reveals a delicate microscopic cross‐section of Couroupita venezualensis, sometimes called the cannonball tree or the bowling ball tree, for the shape and size of the large round fruit it produces. It is found across Central and South America. It is one of approximately 42,000 speciments that form the Smithsonian Wood Collection.
