The Canyon Diablo Bridge, located near Two Guns about 30 miles east of Flagstaff, Arizona, is a historic reinforced concrete Luten‑arch structure built in 1915 to carry early highway traffic—later becoming part of U.S. Route 66—across the rugged Canyon Diablo gorge. Designed with flood‑resistant parapets and a cantilevered roadway, the bridge spans 146 feet on a 128‑foot arch; it was replaced by a newer span in 1938 and officially closed to vehicles.
Today, the abandoned bridge remains an evocative Route 66 relic listed on the National Register of Historic Places, surrounded by the ghost‑town ruins of Two Guns. It offers a haunting glimpse into early 20th‑century engineering, desert travel, and the transient settlements that once thrived along the Mother Road.
