Cap and Bracket Dispenser, Core Tube Assembly, Apollo

This dispenser houses 3 core tube caps and one chisel bit for the 2 cm diameter core tubes. The caps were used to seal the ends of a full core tube sample. The chisel bit would have enabled the tube to be used as a chisel; however, the chisel bit was never actually used. This type of core tube and dispenser was used on Apollo missions 11, 12, and 14. It was transferred to the Smithsonian in 1971.
