Spanish men’s cape in black wool fabric with neck strap and central seam on the back, embellished with black braiding and silk braid ribbon running the length of the neckline, wings, and neck strap. Smooth velvet on both sides; one side bottle green and the other brown, both bearing motifs on a grid of diamonds with undulating edges. The neckline has a square button on each side with a gold metal chain hanging from it.

In the 19th century, men in the wealthier classes wore the Spanish cape, leading it to become a symbol of style and elegance. They are characterized by their fine wool cloth and full shape, and were decorated with stripes of brightly colored velvet on the inner edges.
