These illustrations represent the boarfish (Capros aper) by the hand of Augusto Nobre. On the two sheets you can observe the process of making the illustration, starting with a coarser version on the right, with a graphite sketch underneath the Indian ink. This illustration also shows graphite annotations around the fish, referring to characteristics of its morphology, such as colour, shape and size.
The last illustration, on the left, shows only the fish drawn in Indian ink, the scale and the author's signature. Both illustrations were drawn on paper that had been cut from a larger sheet, thus adapting the support to the size of the illustration.
