Captain Lehmann's Salute

In 1937, prior to the outbreak of WWII, the United States and Nazi Germany maintained cordial relations. While not a member of the Nazi Party, Capt. Ernest Lehmann, the executive officer on board the Hindenburg, received full military honors during funeral services in New York City on May 11, 1937.
