If the game of Authors is somewhat similar to Rummy, the game of Avilude is slightly similar to Gin Rummy. Instead of works of authors, players' "books" of matches are composed of birds. Players choose to lay a pair or two pair, withing the book, down at a time. The more cards they lay down by holding them, the more points they gain. All is governed by timing and players can only make one such move during their turn, so a certain amount of stragegy is involved. Avilude is a complex matching game aimed at older children and adults. This example features a different box cover design, probably later than the 1873 example. The date "1877" is handwritten inside the box.
