Card game | box:St. Nicholas Series Authors

Close examination of this box cover for the card game Authors, made by the J. Ottmann Lithography Co. in the late 19th century, reveals that it is a near duplicate of another example in the museum collection, 107.2722. The firm probably liked this particular box cover design and they exectuted it twice, at least, with only minimal differences. This example has some gold trim added, and a slightly different design.
