Publisher T.J. Griffiths, of Utica, NY, made an unusual card game in the late 19th century. "Numerica" uses numbers printed on cards. A leader calls numbers and players seek to create ordered stacks of their own numbers from lowest to highest. The game resembles a kind of number puzzle; it does not relate to other card games of the period, except that it teaches number and strategy skills and thus is both educational and entertaining.
