Sid Sackson (1920-2002) is considered by many one of the greatest game designers of all time. A civil engineer by training, he devoted his time, later in life, to playing, collecting, and designing games of all kinds. His financial game Acquire was among the first published in the famous 3M bookshelf game series, and it is still in publication. Sackson designed other games for 3M, including several smaller card games which the firm published in its "Gamette" series, in smaller packaging. Avalon Hill kept these games and the Gamette series when it purchased 3M's game division. In 2012, Gryphon Games publised three of these Sackson card games in one slipcased set, calling it the "Sid Sackson Signature Series." Game 1, Sleuth, is a crime deduction game, and Game 2, Monad, is an abstract pattern and set collection game. The third game, Venture, is concerned with deal making and breaking, and ultimately with economics and wealth.
