Parker Brothers' card game Literary Salad is a simple quotation guessing game. If a player guesses correctly, he keeps the card. Like many other late 19th century games, Literary Salad was educational as well as entertaining. Doubtless it appealed as much to parents, who were likely buying it, as to the children who played.
