Milton Bradley's Logomachy or War of Words is related to the game Anagrams, which was, and is, produced by many different manufacturers. The object is to take a trick, or win a group of cards, by forming a word. Like Anagrams, Logomachy is a natural precursor to the game Scrabble, and to crossword puzzles. This particular version is marked for McLoughlin Brothers on the outside of the box, but the game instructions are marked for Milton Bradley. It is known that Bradley purchased McLoughlin around the year 1920. But it is also possible that an owner of this game switched instructions at some point during its lifetime.
