Magic: The Gathering game cards debuted at GenCon 1993. The game found so much immediate success, however, that the producers set about designing and manufacturing multiple expansion pack decks almost immediately. Magic: The Gathering was not only a runaway success, it added a new term to the world of games: the collectible card game. Good players learned early that more cards to choose from, when constructing a personal deck, meant more likely wins.
