Card game:Oriental Color Game

With an early copyright date of 1875, McLoughlin Brothers' Oriental Color Game is a simple matching card game. A spinner is included, called McLoughlin's "Improved Indicator." This shows which color card a player may pick up. There certainly was a degree of fascination with--though little true knowledge of--Asian culture during this time in history. Could the designs on these cards have been drawn from early Japanese tiles from a Mah Jongg game?
