Whitman's Riverboat Showdown is an example of a gambling simulation game, which allowed for the fun of a classic card game and betting with chips, but not real gambling. Illustrations and terminology of nineteenth-cantury riverboats and gambling decorate the game box and the materials. The game is actually quite unique; it doesn't resemble poker at all but rather allows for fast-pace adding and subtracting from the communal chip pile, or the "kitty."
