The card game Rummy, usually played with a standard deck, descends from a similar Chinese card game and from the tile game mahjong even before that. A basic but competitive matching game, rummy's simpler cousin for children is the game "Go Fish." Whitman Publishing produced a children's version of rummy as a card game around the middle of the 20th century. Instead of standard suits, the matches are made with animals, such as three of a kind in zebras, or a set of giraffes. Game makers typically produced children's simplified versions of adult games.
