The Commanders of our Forces is a card game first produced in Concord, New Hampshire, by the E.C. Eastman company in1863. The game is a version of the very popular Authors; it is a matching game. In this particular example, Generals of the Civil War are matched with the men whom they command, or battles they won. Games such as this undoubtedly appealed to parents because they teach history. And the subject also likely appealed to young boys.
