McLoughlin's 1886 card game, The Flag Game, is a rather unique matching type game. Two types of cards represent flags of all nations at the time of manufacture. As the smaller cards are turned up, players with matching nation cards keep the match, and the player with the most matches at the end wins. Like many other games of the late 19th century, this card game focuses on both knowledge and patriotism. An instruction sheet also gives instructions on how to give a "flag party" and play the game as a group.
