McLoughlin Brothers' card game The Flag Game is relatively unique among types of card games. It is a matching game with two types of cards and images of flags of all nations. The smaller cards are turned up one at a time, players with matching nation cards keep the match, and the player with the most at the end wins. Like many other games of the late 19th century, this focuses on knowledge and is also meant to foster patriotism. The instruction sheet also gives a detailed account of how to throw a "Flag Party," and play the game as a group.
