The Golden Egg: A Merry Round Game is a relatively unique form of game, made by McLoughlin Brothers of New York in the late 19th century. The game differs from many other then-popular games such as Peter Coddle, Authors, and Old Maid. Instead, the play evolves through instruction on players' cards as they are turned over, one per round. These generally involve contributing to or taking from the central "pool" of points. When the "game card" is turned, the game is over and if one player holds the "golden egg" card, that player wins the pool--the stack of points accumulated in the middle.
