McLoughlin's game of Cock Robin and His Tragical Death is a relatively unique reading type game based on a well-known poem "Who Killed Cock Robin." Like the Peter Coddles games, Cock Robin is centered around a poem printed in the instruction booklet and read by a reader. Players gather one type of point cards as they correctly supply the answers, from other cards, to blanks in the poem. The player who gathers the most non-answer cards wins the game. Like so many other games of the period, this game combines enducation, or at least a work of literature, with entertainment. Bright graphic cards and a clever reader doubtless added to the pleasure of the game.
