Acaulescent perennial herb. Leaves in a rosette, narrowly oblong, petiolate, deeply pinnatifid, 2–5 in. long, puberulous; segments shortly ovate, incise-dentate, sparingly spinous-ciliate, teeth and apex terminating in spines 1/4– 1/2 in. long.
