The exterior of the building dates to 1827 and was designed by Architect John Nash (1752-1835), however, The Royal Society only took up residence here in 1967.
Former homes of the Royal Society include: Burlington House (from 1857 - 1967), Somerset House (1780 - 1857), Crane Court (1710 - 1780) Arundel House (1666 - 1673) and Gresham College (1660 - 1666, 1673 - 1710).
