Frequent safety drives were a part of life working in the mill. Industrial work is inherently dangerous, and companies tried to incentivize safe working habit by holding contests, awarding prizes, and officially recognizing the "safest" departments. They also created a wide array of safety posters, stickers, hats, shirts, and other ephemera to try and remind workers to always be thinking of safety.
