An image depicting student Johnny Gray wearing a blue and green tree headdress, green and black face paint and an animal prop for the Carnival Arts Procession, with other students in the background.
The procession was part of the final showcase of work created during a carnival arts module, where students explored photography, prop making and performance. The procession started at the St Johns Centre, Bury St Edmunds and led people to the Cloisters at Bury St Edmunds Cathedral for an exhibition of photographs created during the module.
This photo was taken during an arts training course for people with learning disabilitie, offering students the chance to enjoy an in-depth exploration of an art form whilst developing creative and life skills.
Students work alongside professional artists during 10-week art courses. Through artist-led sessions, trips to cultural venues and a final public celebration of their work, students learn new skills and gain confidence, friendships and wellbeing.
