Carolina parakeet

While most parrots live in the southern hemisphere, the Carolina Parakeet uniquely inhabited the New York and the Great Lakes region. They were often killed for damaging crops. Because of their tendency to flock around their wounded or dead comrades, the rest of the flock were easily spotted and slaughtered along with the dead ones. About 700 taxidermy specimens survive in museums around the world.
