Karen says: "Carrie is an Advanced Critical Care Practitioner working at Manchester Royal Infirmary. I was very moved by her story about how Covid-19 has affected her and have tried to reflect, in my painting, her commitment, determination and sense of humour with the support of her family. It has been a privilege to paint her and her children."
Carrie says: "I'm so incredibly honoured to have this painting made for me. A huge thank you to Karen for capturing my children and me so well. I'm just a small cog in a huge wheel. Covid-19 has impacted all aspects of my life, as for everyone. At work I have been faced with emotional and physical pressures with very sick patients without the support of their family. It has been hard watching colleagues burnt out, we're nervous about what the months ahead hold and desperately hoping it will ease ASAP. However, family life and work have been a constant which I am so grateful for. I love my job and the people I work with; we are an amazing team who face all challenges head on and with compassion to all."
