The Gibbs Manufacturing Company of Canton, Ohio, remained in the toy-making business for nearly a century. The company first produced toys in the 1890s, and its early catalogs featured musical or humming tops, push toys, and various toy vehicles, including trucks, tractors, and wagons. Many Gibbs toys, such as this horse-drawn cart, consisted of a mix of wood and tin, and included colorful chromolithograph designs. Toy production continued until the late 1960s, and the company finally closed its doors in 2001.
