Carved Shrine with Flower Motif

This object was used in offerings to the gods. The shrine housed ancestral tablets and was used to make offerings to the ancestors. This Republican era shine features gold lacquer, openwork, people, and flowers. The shrine is shaped like a miniature building. Its lintel is carved with dragons, phoenixes, turtles, and fish. Other parts of the shrine are decorated with people, flowers, animals, birds, and other auspicious symbols.
