Castle Rushen

We breakfasted at the George Inn kept by Downes. This Inn has the character of being a good one in point of attendance and excellent cookery though there is nothing in its external appearance that would tempt one to give it a preference...The Maitre d'hotel Mr Downes is an elderly Englishman. He was for a long time a Serjeant in the Manchester or 42 and served with that Regiment along with Mr Taylor of Balladoole near Castletown.'
