A mother cat and her kittens are depicted sunbathing, in pale and gentle colors. The kittens, curling up their small bodies and snuggling up to their mother in the warm spring sunlight, are adorable. In this painting, Insho captured the cat's affection for her offspring and the kittens' total trust in their mother in a relaxed peaceful scene. The kitten looking directly at the viewer, with soft and delicate fur inviting you to stroke it, is an exquisite accent of the painting. This painting was exhibited at the Peace Memorial Tokyo Exposition (1922) and received the Gold Award.
