Established c1750, Royal Crown Derby is a porcelain manufacturer based in Derby. Until 1733 it was known as ‘Derby Porcelain’, then becoming ‘Crown Derby’. The ‘Royal’ was added in 1890 when Queen Victoria appointed Crown Derby to be “manufacturers of porcelain to Her Majesty” and the company became ‘The Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Company.”
Along with supplying tableware to the royal family, including the Royal Pinxton Rose Tableware collection, which was specially designed and gifted to Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip during their visit to Derby in 1957, the company have a long tradition of producing commemorative wares for royal celebrations.
