Catalogues from Elphick's, Seedsmen of Lewes, Sussex

Assorted seed catalogues from Elphick's of Lewes. The firm was primarily a seed business and founded in 1823 by George Elphick and was based at 18 Cliffe High Street in Lewes, Sussex, later expanding to three branches, but closing in 2003. Elphicks produced strong marketing materials including catalogues designed in house with distinctive typography, bold colours and images. The inner pages were ornately decorated with prints, illustrations and, later, photographs.
