The Latin Cathedral Archcathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary The building you currently see is the Archcathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, or commonly known as the Latin Cathedral. It is the main Roman Catholic church in Ukraine and one of the oldest temples in Lviv. Gothic ribbed vaults, a tower in Baroque style, and several chapels coexist harmonically in one building. Initially, there was a cemetery around the cathedral, but it was later eliminated. Only the chapels surrounding the church survived to our days. The most famous of them is the Chapel of the Kampians, Boims and Holy Gifts.
