The cathedral has been the main Ukrainian church of the city since the beginning of its existence. The building was built by the Jesuit order, is a product of the Austro-Bavarian Baroque school and stands out for its proportionality, restrained artistic decoration of the walls, in which some features of classicism can be traced. The main facade is complemented by the tent-like ends of two towers, the forms of which are borrowed from Hutsul wooden architecture. The artistic decoration of the interior is marked by high-art painting. The rich decor of the interior is complemented by the baroque sculpture of the main altar, which depicts the figures of angels, saints and apostles. The construction of the original Jesuit church in the city began in 1720 and ended in 1729 p. - then the first divine service took place there.
