Cape Town-based Catherine Ash holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rhodes University and has her own company, Ash Ceramics. She designs and creates one-off ceramic pieces that are both decorative and useful. These handmade ceramics range from carefully sculpted tortoise shells to striking statement pieces in vibrant colours. Ash also creates captivating wall installations from hand-cut ceramic tiles that are painted and positioned to create interactive art pieces, allowing the viewer to see something different from every angle.
She is currently working on a collaboration with furniture designers and is planning on expanding Ash Ceramics through projects with other creatives. Ash Ceramic pieces can be found at the Art in the Forest stand at the V&A Waterfront’s Watershed.
