"This work of William Degouve de Nuncques (1867- 1935) was painted in 1901, according to his mystical ideas. Caves, as preserved places of inner depths to discover, probably had a special attractive to the artist. Degouve could paint them from the pictures done with flares by the priest Fernando Moragués. In the Cave of Drac limestone formations, reflected in the blue and immobile water, stand out, which achieves a representation with a great ability to cause an unreal vision, unknown and far away from the academic tradition."
