This train caboose car was built in 1881 at the Roundhouse in Aurora, IL. The caboose, or wayfreight car (waycar) as the CB&Q called it, was the train crew's work space and lounge for eating and sleeping. A train's car number can tell you a lot of about its history and use through its lifetime. This car's original number assigned was CB&Q 208, and shortly after renumbered to CB&Q #14584. It was reassigned car number BN 11076 after the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad (CB&Q) became the Burlington Northern Railroad company.
