The Church of Peace in Jawor was constructed in the mid 17th century after the Thirty Years' War, which ended with the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. This treaty allowed the Protestants in the Catholic-dominated Habsburg Empire to build three churches, known as the Churches of Peace, in the Silesian towns of Jawor, Świdnica, and Głogów. However, the construction came with strict conditions:
* The churches had to be built outside the town walls.
* They had to be made of wood, clay, and straw.
* No nails could be used in the construction.
* They had to be completed within one year.
