This celadon bottle-shaped ewer is an exceptional piece of work that is highly representative of the inlaid bottle-shaped celadon ewers produced during the Goryeo Dynasty. The beauty of its shape, the elaborate inlaid designs and fine glaze all exhibit considerable artistry. The inlaid designs are a harmonious arrangement of alternating cloud, crane and chrysanthemum patterns, which are rendered with dexterous skill. The properties of the clay body and black and white slip go well together, making the inlaid areas smooth and even, and the colors obtained are of a superior quality. A thick layer of clear, lustrous glaze covers the entire surface.
