A Maebyeong is a vessel with a small mouth, a short neck, a round shoulder, and a constricted base. The use of inlay technique in the decoration of celadon ware, known as sanggam, is unique to Korea. The body of this vase is ornamented with inlaid clouds and cranes, symbols of longevity. Encircling the mouth of the vase is the yeouidu (fungus of longevity) design; the base is encircled by a key-fret pattern.
