With the expansion and rise of Christianity, and owing to the good organisation of the Christian Church, liturgical objects were brought from far-flung workshops of the Christian East and West. A hanging bronze censer found in the church of Holy Sunday in Pepeljevac with relief scenes from the life of Christ: the Annunciation, the Encounter of the Mother of God and Elizabeth, the Nativity of Christ, the Annunciation to the Shepherds that Christ was born, Baptism and the Crucifixion is object of Roman heritage, which probably derives from an older church, and testifies to the Christianization of the newly settled inhabitants of the central Balkans - the Slavs. It was used for incense after prayer and the blessing of the priest during the rites. Very similar in shape and decoration are found throughout Syria, Italy, Southern Crimea, while the closest finds are of Egyptian provenance.
