In this mural created by Annie Hamel, embroidery, draped fabrics and motifs from here and abroad create a fantastical landscape that highlights the cultural diversity of the Parc-Extension borough, which many residents consider a new homeland. The fabrics from Quebec, England, Greece, Hungary, Guatemala, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Haiti and India, amongst others, express the rich cultural mix of the past and current Parc-Ex population. As in a quilt, the motifs come together to create a unique blend, representative of the neighborhood and its residents. The mural was created as part of the borough’s centennial celebrations.
