Following the tragic loss of Columbia and crew on their return to Earth, Center Director Roy Bridges and Deputy Director James Kennedy place a wreath in front of the Astronauts Memorial Space Mirror at the KSC Visitor Complex. The mirror is a national tribute to the earlier 17 American astronauts who also gave their lives to the quest to explore space. The site has been inundated with flowers from the public to honor the fallen crew of Columbia.
