Central altar canon, which is part of a set of three - Gospel altar canon and Epistle altar canon. The central one, shows the architrave supported by pilasters, at the centre of which an elliptic shaped medallion can be seen, with a depiction of the institution of the Eucharist, surrounded by allegories of the theological virtues (Faith, Hope and Charity). Over the pilasters, symbols of the Papacy and the Church stand out. On the stems, the figurations of Melquisedeque and of Abraham emerge. The base has lateral supports decorated with angels, which equally support the Portuguese Royal Coat of Arms, at the centre.
