After the founding of the college in 1910, Ewha Haktang, accredited for its excellence, was officially approved as the only women’s university in the plan for establishing an association of Christian universities. The college diploma on which “Joseon Women’s University,” the official name of Ewha at that time, is written, shows the will of Ewha to adapt to the social needs of higher education for women and for leaping forward as an all-female college.
