Paolo Atti, born in 1849, moved to Bologna at the age of 28 and began working as a baker's apprentice. He later opened his own business, producing and selling highly acclaimed tortellini and "luxury pasta" that were exported to various countries. He established thirteen retail outlets in the city and a pasta factory in Casalecchio di Reno. Upon his death in 1910, the business was passed down to his children. The funerary monument dedicated to him, created by the sculptor Pietro Veronesi, features a realistic marble sculpture alongside allegorical elements made of bronze.
