Dr. Charles Leale’s accounts of April 14 and 15, 1865, provide us with some of the most valuable information about the assassination. Though he went on to have a successful medical career, Dr. Leale is best known for his role caring for the mortally wounded president. Charles Augustus Leale died in 1932 at the age of 90.
